It was wonderful to see everyone at the MN Beef Expo and was proud to have Simmentals well represented in the sale and also the Jr. Show. The MJSA Exec team had a short meeting at the expo discussing ideas for the semen and merchandise auction held at State Sale. Speaking of State Sale, it also seems to be just around the corner! Looking for some comfort food during the holidays? Try Amanda’s new favorite recipe!
Beef n Bowties
2 cups uncooked bowtie pasta
1 pound hamburger
1 can cheddar cheese soup
1 cup salsa
1 ½ cups shredded cheese
Boil the pasta until tender. Brown hamburger and season to your liking. Add the soup and salsa, simmer until pasta is cooked. Drain pasta and combine with hamburger mixture. Add shreaded cheese and serve! I like to serve it with sour cream, guacamole, and Dorito chips! SO EASY!

MJSA Members Receive
Simmental Gold Merit Awards
The American Simmental Association (ASA) has
awarded Amanda Eberspacher of Marshall, MN and
Seth Kaehler of St. Charles, MN the Gold Merit
Award worth $1,500 to use for post secondary
educational purposes. Established in 1981, by the
ASA Board of Trustees, the Merit Award is designed
to provide recognition to junior members who have
made “significant contributions to their community,
home, family, school and the Simmental or Simbrah
breeds of cattle.” Judging is based on a combination
of factors including leadership, scholarship, extracurricular
participation and direct involvement with
the beef industry.
Eberspacher and Kaehler along with 13 other
outstanding Junior members were selected as 2009
recipients of Gold and Silver Merit Awards. Five
individuals received Gold Merit Awards worth
$1,500 each and ten students earned Silver Merit
Awards, worth $750 each. Total value of the
combined scholarships is $15,000, funded through
donations to the ASA Foundation. All awards must
be used for post-secondary education purposes.

Marshall, MN, Seth Kaehler, St. Charles, MN, Katie
Linhart, Louisville, KY, Abram Mertz, Manhattan, KS,
and Lindsay Swick, Franklin, TX. |
