    • Minnesota Simmental sales or breeders pay a $200 sanctioning fee (open to in-person, online and private treaty sales DUE STATE FAIR OPEN CLASS WEEKEND to MSA Treasurer Beth Andersland).
    • Individual animals purchased by youth can be nominated for $10 at the time of purchase (nominations are due May 31, 2022 to Beth Andersland and are good for one show season).

    • Youth do not have to be from Minnesota to purchase an animal at a sanctioned sale and participate in the Futurity Show.

  • Show Rules

    • All animals must be purchased through a Minnesota sale (either in person/live, online or private treaty) that has paid the sale futurity fee aka “sanctioned”.

    • Either the buyer or seller are allowed to pay the $10 nomination fee for an animal and the nomination must be made at the time of purchase.

    • Junior exhibitors wishing to exhibit their futurity animal in the junior show at Field Day will pay a $25 entry and comply with the rules for that show.  Heifers will be shown by age and must have been born between September

    • 1st (fall yearling) and December 31st (fall calf).

    • Market animals will be shown by weight, must be 1/2 (50%) blood or higher Simmental and must be born after January 1st of the previous year (yearling).

    • All animals must be registered with the American Simmental Association. No pending or reported papers (# in parenthesis) accepted.

    • Foundation heifers must be registered 1/2 – 3/4 blood Simmental.

    • High percent heifers must be registered purebred (7/8 or higher).

    • Steers, bulls and cow/calves will be shown together in their respective divisions.

    • Payback will be pro-rated per class from futurity nomination fees and awards will be given for Champion & Reserve in their respective Divisions.

  • Animals purchased at any of the sanctioned sales will be eligible to show at the MSA Summer Splash Field Day that is held each year in Pipestone MN, the first Saturday in June. There is a separate division for these animals during the show and a great way to highlight the kids that purchased animals in these sales.

MSA Traveling Bell

Beginning in (year) the MN Simmental Association began to recognize one member with the traveling bell award.  This award recognizes an association member who went above and beyond that year promoting the Simmental breed and the MSA and its members.

Commercial Producer of the Year

  • Being able to recognize a commercial producer is just one of the ways we like to thank these individuals who support the Simmental breed.

  • These operations do not need to be a part of the MSA but should show commitment to using Simmental genetics.
